jan 1, 1774 - 4. First Continental Congress

Description:

*In response to the Boston Tea Party, the British passed what would come to be known as the Intolerable Acts.* These acts infuriated the American colonies even more, and in 1774, all of them except for Georgia would meet in Philadelphia to discuss a game plan. They came up with two documents. The first was the Declaration of Rights and Grievances, which Appealed to king to restore colonial rights and end colonial taxation. The second was the Continental Association, which the colonies boycotted all British goods, whether in import, export, or consumption. They also went over preparations for a military confronation with the British.
