jul 3, 1800 - Election of 1800

Description:

At this point in time, the Federalists had many enemies, and their candidate for presidency said that he would not go to war with France. This idea damaged the Federalist party and eventually made it to where Thomas Jefferson ended up winning the Election. Thomas Jefferson believed in the land where as the Federalists believed in government. But the federalists were not going to go down easy as they attacked Jefferson for being an atheist. In the end this did not work, but it was worth the shot. Thomas Jefferson became the first Democratic-Republican President. Key Concept 4.1, II.
