Description:
The market revolution coincided with the industrial revolution. It was also a major shift away from common conventions. Instead of goods being produced mainly for self-consumption or local markets, goods were produced in mass for the purpose of being sold in larger markets. The revolution depended on new transportation methods such as the Erie Canal and the steamboat.
