nov 13, 1773 - First Continental Congress
Description:
The First Continental Congress was a meeting between 55 delegates of all the colonies except Georgia. They discussed how best to combat the British abuse of power in the colonies. Abuses to them were “unreasonable” laws such as the stamp act and the newly passed coercive acts. The delegates eventually decided to draft a Declaration of Rights and Grievances to send to the British crown. This declaration asked the king to restore colonial rights and end taxation. In short, they wanted to bring back salutary neglect.
