jan 14, 1765 - Stamp Act

Description:

The stamp act was part of a British agenda to end salutary neglect and get more money from the colonies in order to pay for the seven years war. It put a tax on all printed paper. This angered the upper class of people in the colonies like lawyers and aristocrats who relied on printed paper for their livelihood. It sparked anger which would eventually lead to resistance against British imposition on the colonies.
