mar 14, 1671 - Tobacco
Description:
Tobacco was one on the cash crops grown in the southern colonies. Unlike the middle and northern colonies, the south’s economy was mainly based on cash crops like this. After being cross-bred with Carribean tobacco, southern tobacco became extremely popular in the colonies but even more so in Europe. Indentured servants were the main ones working the land where it was grown. Planters became extremely wealthy off growing and selling it.
