Description:
Colombus was an Italian born explorer who sailed west for Spain in order to find a faster trade route to India. He thought the journey would take a short amount of time, but vastly underestimated the size of the world. Eventually, Colombus landed in the Americas which were already populated by various societies like the Mesoamerican civilizations. He proceeded to subjugate the natives and even took some as his own slaves. This would only be the start of indigenous Americans being brutalized by Europeans.AP Key Concept 1.2, II
