jan 1, 1809 - American System

Description:

Henry Clay, a Warhawk, proposed a system of government sponsored economic growth. The system was divided into three parts: Protective tariffs, Second Bank of The United States, and a network of roads and canals in the Ohio River Valley. These roads and canals paved the way for the Market Revolution to take off in the United States. Standardized goods could be transferred state to state using the roads and canals.
