jan 1, 1787 - Constitutional Convention

Description:

** The end of the revolutionary war started a string of different government establishments that all had problems. **The Colonies met in Philadelphia to revise the Articles of Confederation. Both the Virginia Plan and New Jersey Plan were proposed. The Great Compromise was made, combining into what is still the Legislative Branch of American Government. The Electoral College for Presidency and the three-fifths Compromise were also established. Thus began the American System with the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branches that each have their checks and balances.
