**The Battle of Yorktown was the final battle in the fight for American Independence**. With the help of the French Navy, American soldiers cornered the British soldiers into declaring a surrender. The Battle of Yorktown was followed by the Treaty of Paris in 1783. The Treaty officially ended the America Revolutionary War. Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, and John Adams were sent to negotiate a peace with the British in France.
