mar 1, 1875 - civil rights act

Description:

In 1875 congress passed a law stating that African Americans would be granted and for sure be allowed to have equality and the same treatment whites received. The discrimination that African Americans were suffering was huge, on public transportation, at jobs, at court juries, they would all be undervalued and not respectfully and equally treated. Of course this law did not grant them full white priviledges since as we know not all people are nice and some people kept on mistreating them even if the law said this: “equality of all men before the law”. This was still a huge improvement considering barely 100 years ago from this time they coudent even own land. 8years later the U.S. Supreme Court stated that this law just passed was unconstitutional.
