jan 1, 1660 - The South Atlantic System

Description:

*The South Atlantic System was a system set up to help the economy of the colonies by producing more cash crops such as tobacco, rice indigo, and sugar.* This production of cash crops however, was made solely off of the labor from African slaves. This system not only increased cash crop production, but also increased the slave trade. Millions of slaves were brought over to the Americas on boats just to be brutally forced to harvest these crops. Key Concept 2.2, II.
