sep 17, 1813 - Lowell System
Description:
"The reason the Lowell System and the Second Great Awakening relate is because of the teachings it brought and how it talked about equality." The Lowell System is when young women went to be laborers and lived on site in boarding houses. The factory usually was a cloth making factory. The women had more independence on the site than they did on the farm. There would be cultural activities as well as moral instruction around these mills to teach the women. They were usually on here till they were married off.
