nov 1, 1541 - "Ecclesiastical Ordinances"
Description:
Due to his new position, Geneva's town council enacted Calvin's "Ecclesiastical Ordinances" which provided the religious education of the townspeople, instituted Calvin's conception of church order, and established four groups of church officers: pastors/teachers to preach/explain the scriptures, elder congregation representors to administer the church, deacons to attend to charitable responsibilities, and a consistory of pastors and elders to ensure that all aspects of Geneva life conformed to God's law.
