jan 1, 1907 - Union Congregational Church of Montreal
Description:
One of the oldest, largest Black churches in Canada is the Union Congregational Church of Montreal (later known as Union United Church). The church was founded in 1907 by a group of Black railroad porters who no longer felt welcome in White churches and wanted to control their own institution (Este, 2004; Walker, 1995).
