mar 3, 1820 - Missouri Compromise
Description:
An agreement that settled the controversy of slavery in the Louisiana Territory by allowing Missouri to join the United States as a slave state in exchange for Maine becoming a free state. The Compromise also drew a line across the southern border of Missouri at the 36°30′ parallel, legalizing slavery south of this line and forbidding it north of the line.
