Description:

The Kinetoscope was the forerunner of the motion-picture film projector. It was invented by Thomas Edison and William Dickson in 1891. Inside the machine a strip of film was passed rapidly between a lens and a light bulb while the viewer looked through a peephole. Behind the peephole was a spinning wheel with a narrow slit that acted as a shutter, this allowed for momentary view of each of the 46 frames passing in front of the shutter every second.

The result of this was a lifelike impression on real life people and object in motion and was extremely revolutionary for its time. Nowadays we have electric projectors that still use light to project images onto a screen but in a much higher quality.
