jan 1, 1827 - First Photograph
Description:
The first photograph was taken by Nicephore Niepce in France. Taking photographs then was very different from how it is done today. Niepce needed to use a light sensitive material that would "etch" the image. After many attempts he created the perfect formula.
He then let the image sit outside in the sunlight for eight hours which hardened the bitumen he used which revealed the image on the material.
Unfortunatly the image and equipment used went missing until 1952 where is was found in storage in an unknown crate.
