oct 7, 1879 - Secret alliance treaty between Germany and Austria-Hungary formed
Description:
Assured Austria-Hungary of Germany military assistance if the Russians attacked. Austria-Hungary also agreed to provide aid in case of a Russian attack on Germany. This treaty gave Germany little benefit as Russia attacking Germany was highly unlikely and Austria-Hungary was under no obligation to help German in case of a French attack. This essentially was benevolent neutrality unless France and Russia teamed up
