Description:

Mount & Blade is a game series where the player is placed in a fictional universe with a medieval theme. The game is an action RPG where players take command of armies they build up. The player can also fight for other factions, captures castle and villages, and take over the map. The game lets the player play as chosen, and the player can focus on mounted combat, foot combat, archery, and melee. As the name implies however the game is designed around mounted combat for the player.

Each game in the series has various unique factions as well as units that add diversity to the game. Some of these factions are based of off real world empires but given different names. For example the three empires (Eastern, Southern, and Western) in Bannerlord are based off the Roman empire and how it split into multiple empires. The Aserai are based on middle-eastern empires, particularly the Mamluke dynasty. While the Khuzaits, known for their hypertension causing horse archers (called Khanate in the other series), are based off the Mongol empire and the various prodigies (usually called Hordes and Khanates) it left after its demise. The Battanians are based off Celtic empires resisting Roman rule, while the Sturgians are based off the viking civilizations. Finally the Vladians represent various central European empires during the medieval time period. Each faction has units unique to its territory and favor different tactics and armies.

The series is developed by a studio known as “TaleWorlds Entertainment” its headquarters is in Ankara Turkey. Unfortunately the studio does not regularly conduct interviews, and before the initial release of Mount & Blade and the announcement of Bannerlord (4th major game in the series) there are no known interviews with the studio. The original Mount & Blade video game hit the market in surprise with no prior warning besides a few small development blogs that where relatively ignored and unknown.

With Banner lord and its early access release (in March 2020) the studio opened up significantly with the public and has conducted several interviews, and is constantly updating the public on the development of the game. Mount & Blade II : Bannerlord is now the most well known and most played game in the series, with all eyes being on this game instead of the previous ones. The engine is heavily updated as well as the graphics, and overall style of the game. Now we wait what comes next!
