Early in the June of 1837, Joseph Smith was inspired to call Apostles Heber C. Kimball and Orson Hyde to share the gospel in England. They arrived in England in mid-July along with five other missionaries. They found many people ready to receive the gospel in Preston, England. However, they had their first encounter with the adversary shortly before their first baptisms. This first oversea mission to England was the first of thousands of oversea missions.
