Description:

JJ Thompson discovered the electron by experimenting with a cathode ray tube and through this experiment, he found out that electrons were negatively charged as well. This experiment helped him to create his model, known as the plum pudding model. The model showed that atoms have electrons and they are a lot smaller than electrons which meant that atoms are divisible. This differed from what Dalton and Democritus previously had said about atoms being indivisible. As you can see in the model electrons are like the seeds in a watermelon with a negative charge and the rest of it is a positive charge.
