(1762-1796): Catherine the Great is heavily seen as an Enlightened despot of Russia, and one of the first leaders to really care about her subjects, she invited many Enlightenment Philisophes to Russia and learned much from them. She also expanded Russia's land and further Westernized it, simply because she was enlightened. The effect was Russia became even more of a great European power, and world power.
