Description:
After the reign of Yongle, Chinese Emperors attempted to reduce trade and even tried to prevent subjects from dealing with foreigners. They went very far with their measures, in 1656, all maritime was activity was banned, and in 1661 citizens were ordered to evacuate coastlines. However, some vessels continued to trade, and these bans were eventually lifted.
