On December 1979, USSR invaded Afghanistan by force for the country to be communist. US fought back, not directly but through soft power that is providing aid to Afghanistan guerrilla fighters and mujaheddin. They fought against USSR. Also US provided help to other countries neighboring Afghanistan so that the retaliation could be more stronger. The main ally of Afghanistan was Pakistan at that time.Added to timeline:
