oct 5, 1795 - "A Whiff of a Grapeshot"

Description:

Conflict occurred between the revolutionary government troops and royalists upset by changes made, especially those that were ‘anti-Catholic’. Napoleon, who was a young general at the time, took control over the forces that he’d been ordered to join, having 40 cannons brought and lined up. They defeated the royalist attack by shooting grapeshot (not one bullet, but a bag filled a bunch of small metal balls) into the crowd, until the battle ended and approximately 300 royalists were killed.
