Description:
Economic - Heavy plows gradually replaced the light Mediterranean plows. It was equipped with iron tips and a moldboard that turned the soil to uproot weeds. Although it was more expensive and was heavier and harder to pull through the ground, it promoted agricultural production while pulled by oxen. The heavy plow dramatically increased agricultural production and Europeans were able to clear new lands, build ponds for fish, and construct water mills.
