Description:
The leaders of Britain, the US, Russia, and Italy signed the United Nations Declaration, and 22 other countries signed the following day. When officially formed, there were 51 member states. This intergovernmental organisation was tasked with the promotion international cooperation and maintenance of international order, and was created as a replacement for the League of Nations to prevent another conflict like World War II.
