jan 1, 1920 - The Unemployment Insurance Act 1920
Description:
This act was passed at a time where there was very little unemployment in Britain. Weekly cash unemployment benefits were introduced to over 11 million workers, which was almost the entirety of the civilian working population excluding domestic service workers, farm workers, railway workers, and civil servants. Costs increased massively due to the high unemployment period starting in 1921.
