There’d be a strip of film that would pass rapidly between the lens and an electric light bulb while viewed by the peerers that would be viewing from the peephole.
Behind the peephole would be a spinning wheel with a narrow slit that acted like a shutter


The kinetoscope was invented for the purpose of one person being able to view it.
Which was permitting a momentary view of each 46 frames of the shutter every second.
Used as both camera and projector
