On April 3, 1836, Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery were holding a meeting in the Kirtland temple one week after it was dedicated. As Joseph and Oliver were praying, the received a vision. They saw Jesus, Moses, Elias, and Elijah in their vision. Moses restored the priesthood power to gather Israel (missionary work). Elias restored the power to recieve the blessings that had been promised to Abraham. Elijah restored the priesthood power to seal families in the temple.Added to timeline:
