The stolen generations were a dark and cruel time for Aboriginal children and mothers, so in 2008 the Australian Government formally apologised to them and their families. The national Apology to the Stolen Generations acknowledged the trauma and grief suffered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as a result of past government policies, particularly the removal of children from their families.

By doing so Australia proved that we have accepted the people who own Australia and shows that we had no right to take them away from their families and force them to do our things. This started a new chapter for Australia because to this day people acknowledge the Aboriginal people for this day; Sorry day.
