The First Fleet consisted of 11 ships, each no bigger than a Manly ferry. They left Portsmouth in 1787 with more than 1480 men, women and children aboard. Although the majority of passengers were British, there were also African, American and French convicts onboard. They travelled for three months before they finally arrived at Botany Bay on 24 January 1788.Added to timeline:
