Head of the Jewish agency, David Ben-Guiron, proclaimed establishment of the State of Israel on May 14th. Israel was the first independent Jewish state in a very long time. When Israel became a state David Ben-Guiron became their first Prime Minister. The United Nations approved a plan to separate Palestine into a Jewish and Arab state in 1947, but the Arabs rejected it. The Jews had been treated horribly their whole lives so a new home was a big deal for them.Added to timeline:
