Description:
The Eureka Stockade was a rebellion caused by a disagreement between the miners and the Victorian Laws/Government.
The stockade was built on the 30th of November 1854, the same day miners swore allegiance to the Southern Cross on Bakery Hill.
Early in the morning on the 3rd of December 1854, when the stockade was lightly guarded, government troops attacked. At least 22 diggers and six soldiers were killed.
