Description:

On Feb 4, 1811, the Real Audiencie of Spain in Mexico gathered all but twenty copies of “El Despertador Americano” and publicly condemned and burned the papers, by official order of the court. This act sparked insurgent newspapers and journalists across the country, and marked the beginning of the theory of independent news sources.
