jan 1, 1781 - Newspapers are back
Description:
In 1781 D. Manual Antonion Valdes Murguia y Saldana founded a newer “Gazeta de Mexico” which became the outstanding gazette of the colonial period. The paper was the first official periodical published in Mexico as the organ of the colonial government. Whereas in modern day journalism, working as a publication for the government would not be considered journalism, rather PR. The impact the paper made was groundbreaking and unlike any periodical had ever done in Mexico before. It was even used as a weapon of the Spanish government against the rebels. It lasted until 1821, when the government was overthrown and it changed its names and policies to correspond with the new political administration
