Description:

Gaceta de Mexico appeared in 1722 as the first newspaper in Mexico. It was out of Mexico City, and eventually renamed itself "Mercurio" to honor Volante. In 1739, the newspaper ceased to exist because of the high cost of paper. This left Mexico without a newspaper, again.
