jan 1, 1902 - The Woman of Australia had the right to vote

Description:

In 1902 most of the Women in Australia were given the right to vote and stand for parliament. In the late 1800’s women were beginning to fight for their equal rights. Many things were unfair and far from democratic. Thousands of women became activists to fight for women’s suffrage as one of the first movements towards equal rights for men and women. Unfortunately, the laws passed to include women voters did not apply to Indigenous Australians, Torres Straight Islanders, women from Asia, Africa or the Pacific Islands. I still believe that to this day women still do not have the equal rights that we deserve.
