apr 29, 1770 - Captain Cook 'discovered' East coast of Australia
Description:
On the 29th of April 1770 a British Explorer named James Cook ‘discovered’ the East coast of Australia. Of course, the continent of Australia had already been discovered and inhabited some 60,000 years earlier by Indigenous Australians. Captain Cook’s ‘discovery’ ultimately lead to the arrival of the First Fleet and settlement of British Australians in 1788. If Captain Cook and his ship the Endeavour did not come across the coast of Australia, the history of our country may have looked very different.
