On the 10th of December 1859, Queensland formally separated from New South Wales. A proclamation was read by George Bowen stating the separation. On the 6th of June, Queen Victoria signed the letters to allow Queensland to become a separate colony with its own governor, Legislative Council and elected Legislative Assembly.Added to timeline:
