jul 28, 1914 - World War l
Description:
World War I, also known as the Great World War, commenced in 1914 after the controversial assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. His Bombard escalated into a great war across the whole of Europe that lasted until 1918. During the intense conflict, Germany, Bulgaria, Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire brawled against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States (the Allied Powers). Regonitioned to new military technologies and the apprehension of trench warfare, World War I saw unheard- of levels of destruction and carnage. By the time the war had ended the Allied Powers claimed victory, over 16 million people—soldiers and civilians alike—were dead and lots more harmed.
World War I had a damaging effect on Australian economy. Although it stimulated brand new industries, some were not competitive. As an importer of labour, capital, and manufactured goods, and an exporter of commodities, Australia as a nation benefited from its newly formed relationship with the British Empire.
