oct 22, 1962 - Indigenous people got the vote
Description:
For years Indigenous Australians were on Australia and only in 1967 they were allowed to vote. This change in the constitution didn’t come easy for them though. They had to do multiple protest and multiple petitions even waiting outside football games and churches to get signatures. Word reached the national government and they held a nation-wide referendum with a 90% yes vote which is holding the biggest yes vote in Australian history. After this Indigenous Australians had the right to vote from there on and now, they can vote for what they believe is right.
