aug 22, 1770 - When Captain Cook "discovered" the East Coast of Australia
Description:
Captain Cook set sail on his ship Endeavour from Plymouth Harbour. Arriving at New South Wales coastline on the 22nd of August 1770. With a crew of 94 men he was sent by the king to find the unknown southern land. Before landing at New South Wales Cook mapped out the outline of New Zealand before arriving at NSW and claiming it for the king and Britain. This led to the first fleet coming and creating the Australia we know and love today.
