nov 8, 1519 - 3. Hernan Cortes
Description:
I. *One of the more famous Conquistadors was a man named Hernan Cortes.* Cortes' journey was actually not sanctioned by Spain, as after it was planned, a Spanish noble and Cortes got into an argument, and they cancelled the voyage. Cortes ignored the cancellation, and sailed to Mexico. When he arrived, he sought alliances with the other Mesoamerican tribes, and raised an army of roughly 3,000. Cortes pulled up at Tenochtitlan , promptly killing King Moctezuma II and conquering the Aztecs. He claimed all of that territory for Spain.
