Description:
was a Puerto Rican military leader. Trained in Spain, he fought with the Spanish Army to expel the French leader, Napoleon Bonaparte, from Spain and was promoted to colonel during these years.
He returned to the New World and joined the Mexican movement for independence next, and was appointed as a Brigadier General. Later he joined Simón Bolívar to fight for the independence from Spain of nations in South America, fighting for Colombia, Peru, Panama. He also supported the independence of Puerto Rico and Cuba. Like Bolivar, he advocated forming a federation of Latin American nations.

He was born on October 26, 1790 in Apóstol Santiago de Fajardo .
Son of Cayetano Valero de Bernabé and Rosa Pacheco. His father was a descendant of the Aragon nobility and came to exercise the title of Second Lieutenant of Hunters and Captain of the Fixed Battalion of Puerto Rico.
Antonio married María Madrid on September 12, 1811 in Cartagena, Spain. On February 12, 1840, he remarried with Trinidad Lara Martínez. He was part of the Seville Infantry Regiment
14, 2nd line, expeditionary battalion and exercised the position of cadet on April 25, 1803, second lieutenant on November 30, 1804, lieutenant on March 20, 1808, captain on July 24, 1808, lieutenant colonel on 8 February 1809 and colonel on March 9, 1809.
These last two promotions were obtained for his heroism in the Zaragoza site at the age of 19 years.
He served in the Valencia Infantry regiment, Murcia regiment, Queen's Infantry regiment, Chinchilla regiment, added to that of Seville, first assistant of the Hunters and second assistant general of the General Staff of the Expeditionary Overseas Army of Buenos Aires.
He was a defender of the independence of Spain against the invasion of the French,liberator of Mexico , liberator of Peru , servant of ancient Colombia, founder of the Republic of Venezuela , founder of the Federal party of Venezuela , and defender of the federal cause of the Republic of Colombia . He was a companion of Palafox in Zaragoza and Bolívar during the war in Peru. In 1860 he came to Colombia expelled from Venezuela.
