jan 1, 2800 BC - Forming of the Great Tribe of Murkunvir Vrune (The People of Stonehome)

Description:

An expedition Vourkel leads towards the remains of Svarfinvir, and many days later they reach its site to find at first only ruins and an utter quiet. They come across neither god nor being, and not even bones or corpses litter the ruined landscape. Yet at the center of the site something catches Vourkel’s sight and bids him to approach. There, embedded in the sheer rock, sits a tool known to the Vourenkinn in nature, yet strange in its confection. An axe lies at his feet, of wooden heft and blade cast in a shining material harder and sharper than the stones Vourkel’s people use to craft their arms.

He recognizes it after a fashion as the weapon borne by Lingard, and with a mighty effort he pulls it from its cleft and claims it for himself, telling of its finding thereon that nothing but the axe, ash and ruins they found atop the peak, named forevermore as ‘The Arm of the Old God’. Few had come to be as learned as to know that Lingard was no god, and so their words are drowned in the tide of those spoken by far simpler minds, which could only see such a figure as nothing less than divine.

As for Vourkel, Antmurkun and Ránderliv; they take the distressed Vourenkinn under their care, becoming the leaders of their people’s first great tribe, known in future cycles as Ivv Murkunvir Vrene (The People of Murkunvir) after roving southwards towards their first-trodden soils between the mounts south of the Arm of the Old God.

Only Vourkel and Rándervir head this great march, for Antmurkun, primal in nature, gathers those who are far too primitive to adapt to the changing ways of their people and scatter, settling throughout the entirety of the lands east of Vouren Vánntelde (Mountains of the High Snows). Little is known of Antmurkun’s doings thereafter.

Upon reaching the heart of Murkunvir, Vourkel adopts the name which was whispered by his people during the journey to their new home: Khársaorin (Firstaxe), and with Ránderliv at his side he begins to build the foundations of what would in time become the first Vourenkinn empire.

Their encampment, which for many years remains nameless, later would be given the name of Syndermurkun (Deeprock), and thus becomes the oldest permanent city on Ár.
