jan 1, 1965 - The Completion of the Union 76 Gas Station - A Googie Structure
Description:
The Union 76 gas station was built in Beverly Hills by the architect Gin Wong and was completed by 1965. However, the design for this gas station was actually meant to stand alongside the Theme Building in the Los Angeles Airport, but the designers of the airport didn’t see it working, so it ended up in Beverly Hills. Some physical features of this building include a wide and exaggerated curved canopy, a roof decorated with simple squares, and fluorescent lights that are hung underneath the canopy and illuminate it at night. In conclusion, the Union 76 gas station is undoubtedly the best gas station in all of California.
