The Theme Building in Los Angeles is a structure that stands on top of the Los Angeles International Airport, and was constructed from 1959 to 1961 and designed by Pereira & Luckman. The building comprises a restaurant supported by two enormous arches, and it represents a flying saucer that has landed with four legs. The reason for this idiosyncratic design was because this was designed and built during the time of the Space Race, and some Americans architects showed their patriotism through designing buildings relevant to space and aliens.
