jan 1, 1922 - The Completion of the Shukhov Radio Tower - A Constructivist Structure
Description:
The Shukhov Radio Tower was designed by and named after the Russian architect Vladimir Shukhov, and was constructed from 1920 to 1922 in Moscow, Russia. It’s a broadcasting tower with a slightly peculiar free-standing diagrid design that stands 160 metres tall. The original design was supposed to be 350 metres tall, but due to the fact that the Civil War depleted the country’s resources, a down-scaled revision had to be made and approved by Lenin himself.
